OUR HOME DAYCARE
We recently remodeled our playroom, adding lots of new learning materials. We divided the rooms into learning centers such as blocks, math & science, reading, etc. Also, we designed it so that each age group - infant/toddler & PreK - has access to materials that are appropriate for them.
The first room of the daycare includes the Library and the Cozy Corner. In the Library, the little bookshelf on the bottom holds infant & toddler books, plus a few literacy toys for alphabet practice. The top shelf holds a basket of PreK books & a basket of PreK writing materials such as alphabet practice, all kinds of paper, envelopes, a chalkboard, etc.

Across from the Library is the Cozy Corner. This area is for when one of the children is needing some time away from the group - maybe he or she is feeling a little overwhelmed or is feeling like the other areas of the room are a bit noisy, or is wanting to be alone for a little while - that's what the Cozy Corner is for. It's in the quietest part of the room & books are close by right across in the Library Corner. We teach all the kids that they are not to disturb a child who wants to spend time in the Cozy Corner.

In the next room are the rest of the learning centers. Here are a couple of pictures of the whole room. You will find closer pictures, and more detailed descriptions of each learning center, on the following pages.
